Isaac del Toro Receives Tribute Before the World Cycling Championships

Just days before the 2025 Road Cycling World Championships kicked off in Kigali, Rwanda, the Baja California native was surprised by the World Boxing Council (WBC) with a unique recognition: a commemorative belt that distinguishes him as a true champion, even before he sets out to conquer the African roads.
The gesture, led by Víctor Silva, deputy director of the WBC, symbolizes the support of Mexican sports for its most outstanding athletes and boosts Isaac’s morale in the final stretch of his training.
During a special visit, Silva presented him with the belt amid applause and photos that quickly circulated on social media, showing del Toro with an infectious smile as he raises his hand in victory.
This award, crafted with gold details and the classic WBC design, represents recognition of their hard work, perseverance, and ability to inspire new generations.
The challenge in Rwanda: rivals and journey
Isaac del Toro’s mission will not be easy, as he will compete in the demanding Men’s Elite Road race, facing off against international cycling legends such as Tadej Pogacar, Primoz Roglic, and Remco Evenepoel.
The 267.5-kilometer circuit in the Rwandan capital promises to be an ordeal: the route includes more than 5,400 meters of accumulated elevation gain, nine laps on a street circuit, a middle section that connects to the hills, and six final turns that will test the competitors’ mettle.
The race is expected to demand more than six hours of maximum effort, traversing Kigali’s toughest climbs fifteen times, making each kilometer a true test of endurance and strategy.

The race is scheduled for Sunday, September 28, when Isaac del Toro will take to the track, seeking to leave Mexico at the top of the cycling world.
